Panthers fall to Richmond Hill

Liberty County High School’s soccer teams played a region meet Saturday in Richmond Hill. The Panther boys and girls both lost their games.

The Wildcats took the boys down with a mercy-rule ending late in the second half, winning 10-0. The girls lost 9-0.


YMCA to host March Madness

The Liberty County YMCA will host a March Madness basketball tournament at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27. Teams have until March 22 to register. It’s open to ages 16 and older, and the fee is $150 per team. For more information, call 368-9622.

Georgia Fury needs softball players

 The South Georgia Fury girls fast pitch travel softball team is looking for players for their 14 and under and 12 and under teams.

 Bradwell Institute is building a wall of fame featuring former BI Tiger athletes who played sports on the college level. Tiger coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes, but they’d like even more. Names and photos are being gathered. To submit a name or photo the following criteria must be met:The former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute. Liberty Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic

The fourth annual Liberty County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic will be on April 23 at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. Fees are $200 per four-person teams or $60 per individual player. Registration is open until April 19. For more information, call 368-4445 or go to  YMCA hosting middle school lockdownThe Liberty County YMCA will host a middle school lockdown from 6 p.m. Friday, March 26 until 8 a.m. Saturday, March 27. It’s open to children ages 11-14 and the fee is $10 per child. An additional $5 (cash only) per child is required for pizza, and concessions will be sold until midnight. The children will participate in sports tournaments, swimming, game consoles, live music and a dance competition. Call 368-9622 to reserve a spot. Slots will be open until noon March 25.

The Golden Isles Junior Open is April 10-11 at Sea Palms Golf Resort on St. Simons Island. The registration deadline is March 31. 2010 ADAKiss-A-PigPorker Run

Hop on a hog and help Team Liberty candidate Jon Long kiss a pig as he raises money for the American Diabetes Association. The run is open to motorcycles, cars and trucks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Liberty Regional Medical Center, 462 E. G. Miles Parkway. Fees are $20 per person and $5 for additional hands.
