The Coastal Crew Rebels Shootout Tournament is set for May 15 at the St. James Sports Center. Admission is free. Here is the tournament schedule:

Touchdown Club seeks sponsors

Long County’s Touchdown Club is seeking sponsors and donations for its upcoming fifth Annual Long County Touchdown Club Golf Tournament.

Hole sponsorships are $100. The group also needs monetary or gift donations for door prizes.

The tournament will be a four-person captain’s scramble. Fees are $50 per person. A "cheaters combo" is available for an additional $10, which includes one mulligan, one shot from the ladies tee and one string of 10 feet for placing a shot closer to a hole.

The tournament is May 15 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club. Proceeds benefit the Long County High School varsity football team. For more information, call Bryan Murphy at 370-2470 or Kyle Wilson at 530-9443.

First annual Sunbury 5K run/walk

 

The first annual Sunbury 5K run/walk is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Diabetes Association.

Participants can register online at www.fleetfeetsavannah.com or www.active.com. Search for the race under the keyword "Sunbury." Registration fees are $25 per person, and the race is open to all ages; however, those under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, according to the Active.com site.

The race starts at the Sunbury Crab Company and the course will take participants through the neighborhoods of Sunbury. Prizes will be awarded in different age groups and all registered participants will receive T-shirts and free entry into the Sunbury Blue Crab Festival.

BI wall of fame submissions

 

Bradwell Institute is building a wall of fame featuring former BI Tiger athletes who played sports on the college level. Tiger coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes, but they’d like even more. Names and photos are being gathered. To submit a name or photo the following criteria must be met:

The former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute. The student athlete must have gone on to play sports at the college level and must have graduated from college.

2010 ADA Kiss-A-Pig ‘Porker Run’

 

Hop on a hog and help Team Liberty candidate Jon Long kiss a pig as he raises money for the American Diabetes Association. The run is open to motorcycles, cars and trucks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Liberty Regional Medical Center, 462 E. G. Miles Parkway. Fees are $20 per person and $5 for additional hands.
