ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have drafted left-handed pitcher Sean Gilmartin from Florida State with their first pick in the amateur draft.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Gilmartin was taken Monday night with the 28th overall selection. He went 12-1 with a 1.83 ERA for the Seminoles, compiling 122 strikeouts in 113 1-3 innings.

Gilmartin is the second left-hander taken in the opening round by the Braves in the last three years. Mike Minor has already made it up to the big leagues, and Atlanta scouting director Tony DeMacio says Gilmartin is expected to "move fast through our system."
