TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Though they are huge rivals on the field, Auburn University is among the colleges reaching out to help devastated Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama.
U of A student government Chief of Staff Nicole Bohannon said six schools have reached out to volunteer as of Saturday: Auburn, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State and South Carolina.
Bohannon said the groups mostly are collecting supplies on their home campuses and arranging to ship or deliver them to Tuscaloosa. Auburn also has organized a fund drive. Bohannon is a junior from Sheffield, Ala. She said she and others at Alabama were grateful and moved by the support.
