Third annual Miles for Meals 5K set

SAVANNAH — Senior Citizens Inc. will host its third annual Miles for Meals 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 18, at Daffin Park. All proceeds will benefit the local Meals on Wheels program, which provides meals to seniors throughout Coastal Georgia.
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Daffin Park, pass through Police Memorial Trail and end at Grayson Stadium. Food, drinks and awards will be distributed after the race.
Registration is $25 through April 27, $30 through May 16, and $35 at packet pick-up and race day. Packet pick-up is 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Fleet Feet Sports Savannah. Through its Meals on Wheels program, Senior Citizens Inc. delivers more than 1,800 hot meals each day. Georgia ranks No. 6 on Meals on Wheels Association of America’s “Top Ten Hunger States” list, based on a recently released research study, with nearly one in every 12 seniors in Georgia being at risk of hunger. Senior Citizens Inc. took the Meals on Wheels Association of America’s pledge to end senior hunger by 2020.
