Local nonprofit organizations have until 5 p.m. Sept. 14 to declare their intent to apply for funding from United Way of the Coastal Empire.
The fund will grant money to programs and services that have a proven track record of outcomes as well as new, innovative programs related to one of the United Way priorities: education and youth development, health and wellness, and economic independence.
Organizations supporting families and neighborhoods with programs that provide food, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities are also encouraged to apply.  Programs hoping to receive funding from United Way of the Coastal Empire
must complete an annual written proposal with relevant data that documents the needs.
The program funding application is available on the United Way Web site at www.uwce.org.
United Way will review applications and determine awards. The final decisions and announcements of awards will be in March 2010.
