National Day of Prayer Key Scripture: "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped." Ps 28:7a (KJV)
It has been said that "prayer changes things" but I believe that prayer will change people and that people will change things. Our nation really needs prayer. This Thursday, May 1, is The National Day of Prayer. Christians around the nation will gather at noon to pray for America.
The United Ministerial Alliance of Liberty County will host its seventh annual observance of this national event. Christians will gather on the courthouse annex steps to pray for our national and local government, our deployed military, our children and our community overall.
When Moses prayed, God opened the Red Sea, when Elijah prayed, fire fell from heaven, when Jesus prayed, the dead was raised to life again, blind eyes were opened and the deaf ears would hear again. God honors the prayers of His people. When we call out to Him, he will show us the great and mighty things that we need to know.
Prayer is a kingdom key that unlocks the wisdom of heaven. We all pray what I call 9-1-1 prayers when we need divine intervention in our lives. But we have forgotten to pray those 4-1-1 prayers for God's divine directions in our daily decisions. If we ask for wisdom and direction, we might avoid some of those pitfalls that produce the emergencies we often encounter.
Lets pray, so we make it today. Join the Christian community this Thursday at 11:45 a.m. on the steps of the Liberty County Courthouse Annex to pray for divine direction in America. Here is the NDOP official prayer for our nation by Dr. Ravi Zacharias:

Holy Father, in a world where so many are hungry,
You have given us food in abundance;

In a world where so many are hurting,
You offer to bind up our wounds;

In a world where so many are lonely,
You offer friendship to every heart;

In a world longing for peace,
You offer hope.

Yet, we are so stubborn and resistant.
Have mercy upon us, Lord.

Our nation is at a crossroads this year;
we look to you to be our strength and shield.

Please give us the guidance to elect one who will honor you
and to respond to the wisdom from above
so that our hope may be renewed and our blessings be treasured.

In God's holy name.
