The new year is off to an exciting start for members of First Baptist Church of Ludowici.
“Our goal for 2012 is to reach our unchurched community and disciple them once we reach them,” Pastor Eric Rentz said. “The motto at First Baptist is ‘Making First Baptist of Ludowici a place where the Son shines.’”
Rentz has been at First Baptist in Ludowici since 2005 and has seen and experienced many wonderful things.
“I came to First Baptist from the Antioch Baptist Church in Claxton,” he said.
Since Rentz arrived at First Baptist, the church has continued to grow, both spiritually and physically.
“This year, we are expecting lots of people to come to know Jesus. For the members we already have, we expect them to grow in Christ,” Rentz said. “The church is really growing. During Sunday morning worship services, we have an average attendance of 300 people with approximately 200 in Sunday school.”
First Baptist Church, located at 705 N. McDonald St., has Bible study/discipleship training at 5 p.m. Sundays, followed by worship service at 6 p.m. The Awana program for children is at 6 p.m. Wednesdays and has an average attendance of 100. There also is a meal at 5:45 p.m. and adult Bible study on Wednesday nights.
Some of the new programs at First Baptist include the discipleship training, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and youth game night.
“During our youth game night, we have basketball in our gym, video games and devotional,” Rentz said.
Members of First Baptist are busy preparing for two big upcoming events.
“On March 3, we will have our annual wild-game dinner,” the pastor said. “During our wild-game dinner, we cook the meat caught during the hunting season such as deer, wild hog, squirrels, raccoon, quail, dove, rabbits, pheasant and elk. We also have a speaker, and door prizes are awarded.”
“All revenue from our wild-game dinner goes toward mission. First Baptist is very mission oriented, and proceeds from this dinner help with construction and wheelchair ramps for those in need.
“On March 4, we will begin our revival with Evangelist Steve Hale,” Rentz added.
Hale’s ministry is based out of the 15,000-member congregation of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga.
Rentz and the members of First Baptist of Ludowici invite you to join them for any of their services.
