Obedience is ticket to faith

There are two virtues I think are really important in a Christian’s life: faithfulness and obedience.

Jesus reminds us of the importance of obedience in Luke 6:46 where he asks the question, "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"

The Apostle Paul addresses the importance of faithfulness in 1 Corinthians 4:2 where he says, "Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful."

If you are a member of a unit of the body of Christ, you need to be faithful at church events and do a great job at a task given you to perform. You need to fulfill the calling God has placed upon you and be using your gifts to serve others.

At the same time you need to be listening to the voice of God for his daily guidance. Maybe he wants you to pray for some specific person, or maybe you need to forgive someone. Maybe he wants to use you to lead someone to salvation, or maybe it is some sin that needs to be confessed.

We need to be confessing when we are disobedient while seeking for ways to be more obedient.

I do believe if we are completely obedient, it will lead to a life of faithfulness. It all starts with the act of obedience to become a follower of Jesus Christ, then he will lead us in those areas where we can prove our faithfulness.
