A self-proclaimed prophet predicted that Jesus Christ would return May 21 for his saints.
There are a few problems with this. First, the event did not happen.
Second, the prophecy violates the clear teaching of the Bible, which says that no man knows the day or hour.
Third, because it didn’t happen, the man is a false prophet, according to the scripture.
Deuteronomy 18:22 says, “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken.”
The thing that bothers me more than the fact that a false prophet is bellowing out predictions is the response I heard from people.
So many people made fun at more than this false prophet – they made fun of the fact that the world could come to an end.
What many people may not realize is the Bible clearly teaches that there will be a second coming of Christ and an end to this world as we know it.
Matthew 24:14 tells us very plainly that the end will come. This kind of reminds me of the Bible story of the great flood, in which Noah preached for 120 years that God was going to destroy the earth, but people didn’t listen to him and the majority of creation was destroyed.
It is not so important that we know when the Lord will return, but the big question is, “If this event did happen today, would we be ready?”
The Scripture says there only is one way to be ready: acquiring a right relationship with God by deciding to be a follower of Christ.
The good news is that the invitation is open to anyone who will humble himself or herself, ask for his forgiveness and trust that he will forgive.
