United Way of the Coastal Empire 2-1-1, will host its 1st annual “National 2-1-1 Day Celebration," from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, in their new service area in the Kroger Shopping Center, 555 W. Oglethorpe Hwy., Hinesville.
The purpose of this event is to support the national effort to educate the community on the benefits of using 2-1-1, which offers connections to local services that help with debt management, childcare, food pantries, health care and many other problems facing local community residents.
Community volunteers will be there to answer questions about 2-1-1 services and distribute information and giveaways to create awareness of this new partnership in Liberty County.
The mission of the United Way of the Coastal Empire's 2-1-1 service center is to provide area citizens with a streamlined process of receiving health and human service information, as well as providing the opportunity to donate goods and volunteer services by using one easy to remember phone number (2-1-1). Cell phones must dial (912) 651.7730.
Coastal Empire 2-1-1 also covers Chatham, Effingham, Bryan and Glynn counties. For more information, call Christy Mauldin, 2-1-1 Program coordinator, at (912) 651-7712 or cmauldin@uwce.org
