The Jesup Air Evac Lifeteam base, which provides air medical service and access to health care for those who live in medically underserved areas, recently was selected as the company’s national base of the year. Senior Program Director Donald Mixon and members of the crew accepted the award at a national banquet Sept. 6 in St. Charles, Missouri.
The award is presented annually to the base in the Air Evac Lifeteam system that best exemplifies the company’s mission, which includes community service, education and scene work.
Daniel Sweeza, the vice president of operations, said that the Jesup base has accomplished great things in the past year.
“The Jesup base is committed to building positive relationships with its customers,” Sweeza said. “These relationships are strong and have resulted in sustained growth for this base. The employees think outside the box, and each team member believes that he or she has been called to serve others. That is evident in the positive attitude shown to each patient, family member and customer.”
Donald Mixon, the senior program director for the Jesup Air Evac base, said everyone at the base plays a vital role in its success.
“Winning ‘base of the year’ is a testament to the progress we have made in our area, partnering with our referral sources,” Mixon said. “This would not have been possible without the high-quality medical professionals in our service area. They recognize the lifesaving benefit of helicopter EMS and utilize it appropriately.”
