The Hinesville Area Arts Council will host the annual Cupcake War from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Bryant Commons in conjunction with the Small World Festival.

This year’s theme is “International.” The theme should be reflected in the cupcakes as well as each contestant’s table décor. It could be a country, a city, an icon, international flavors — whatever you like.

Team registration is now underway. Contestants are responsible for making and bringing 300 fully decorated mini cupcakes for the public to sample. Judging is points-based and will be graded on creativity, taste and originality. First-, second- and third-place awards will be determined, as well as the People’s Choice Award by popular vote from eventgoers. Tupperware takeout containers are not allowed. The event costs $1, allowing eventgoers to sample from the tables.

Setup is from 9-11:30 a.m. Judging will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the event will last from noon to 2 p.m. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

Exhibitors will be emailed a pass to give them access to an unloading spot close to the building where the Cupcake War will be set up. After unloading, contestants will have to move their cars to the public parking. More details will be available closer to the event date.

Teams may register by emailing the registration form to evanneleigh@gmail.com. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration forms are available at the Hinesville Area Arts Council Gallery at 102 Commerce St. in Hinesville or may be downloaded at www.hinesvillearts.com.
