Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I’m a single, unemployed mother of two looking for a free bunk bed. My number is 545-2800.

I just heard from my mother that they’re thinking about taking Social Security away. Let me tell you something, we’ve all got to grow old if we live to see it and this ain’t right. Lord Jesus knows we can’t afford to lose our Social Security.

Liberty County doesn’t believe anybody should have enterprise, like having a garage sale. You have to have a permit in Liberty County. Why? This is un-American. People have been having garage sales for years. This is the way you clean up your yard and sell stuff instead of getting fined for having stuff in your yard. If you work, you don’t have time to get to the courthouse.

If you’re over 21 and you’re still playing childish games, you better think again. There are consequences for anyone who plays pranks or destroys people’s property. You think you won’t get caught, but you have been caught on camera. We know who did it. All we have to do now is take the recording to the police.

Flemington City Council does a great job in providing for the community. Let’s hope they have the good sense to put sidewalks where the most pedestrian traffic is along Old Sunbury Road.
