Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

If the Courier would have done some investigative reporting, they would have found that one candidate for mayor of Ludowici had several DUIs and would not have made a fit candidate for mayor.

What I don’t understand: Why is Georgia Power charging residents for all this extra money and they haven’t even started building the new power plant? That’s highway robbery.

Why is it these food service managers in the school system pick these assistants to help them, and they are not trained? Basic reading, writing and counting are required, plus your GED, not something that’s equivalent.

Why does Hinesville have the same white snowflakes up? We are colorful people from around the world. We need the pretty poinsettias and all the pretty decorations they’ve got on 84 throughout downtown. Also, the city is going up on taxes and the water bill every month. Why can’t the residents get what they want?

Can anyone tell me where people can get help or assistance to pay their water bill and heating bill? It’s cold. They say the state ran out of funds. What are you supposed to do, camp out in the park and make a fire? Especially when you have children involved.

This is a new year coming up. The employment is still down. Is the city afraid to hire qualified college students? Why is that?
