Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does  not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Since you find it so important to keep track of the Midway police department vehicles, you should find out how many officers are working at one time, and then you could have answered your own question before you wasted our time with your mess.

I served in Vietnam. We can thank that blanking-blank President Clinton for normalizing our relationship with Vietnam.

I just wonder, is Thanksgiving only for the Republicans, or is everybody invited to sit at the table together?

We sure hope that the city isn’t going to put up Christmas lights, using all that manpower and equipment to do it with. That’s just going to cost more money and put us more in the hole since we have to pay those new salaries for the mayor and the
council.

When I pull up to a four-way stop sign and there are three cops at every intersection, I don’t know if I feel overprotected or overtaxed. And then I see the new board of education and all the new buildings they’ve built, and I know I’m over-taxed.

In light of education cutbacks with federal spending, I have to wonder: Do we really need assistant principals in all of our elementary schools?

On Thanksgiving, I would just like to give a big “thank you” to all of our military and armed services personnel. Thank you so much.
