Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does  not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

I’m very upset that the person who works for the hospital authority makes a decision on a tie to increase our taxes — this is wrong.
Editor’s note: County Commissioner Donald Lovette, who voted to approve the 2012 millage rates, is not a member of the hospital authority. He does work at Liberty Regional Medical Center.

Well, we have this big city hall, we have this big courthouse with all the lights on at night, and now we still don’t have a mall in this town. When are we going to get one? Also, I have to use mercury light bulbs at home. How come city hall and the courthouse do not turn their lights off at night?
