Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:
I would like to applaud Secretary of Defense Gates for standing up and telling NATO just how things truly are, and his position on how they have not supported our troops in the past. Thank you very much.
This is in reference to the Sound off caller who said Republicans are taking everything. Well, Democrats are trying to give everything that we don’t have. Our country has reached the debt ceiling. How can you give what you don’t have? I’m real proud to be a Republican.
Rep. Weiner is not the only one who is going to be brought to an open shame. The storms of life are going to be around for a long time and God is going to bring people to an open shame. It’s time to be truthful.
I don’t know where you got 876-3528 for Yellow Cab’s number. It was 876-6191 back in the early 90s when I drove and it was still Shuman Cab.
As far as I know, the number for Yellow Cab has been 876-6191 for at least 30 years. I don’t know what this caller was talking about with the other number.
Editor’s note: The Courier called Yellow Cab and learned that both numbers — 876-6191 and 876-3528 — are working numbers for the cab company.
I think the people who are going to build the library here need to go to Savannah and see that beautiful library they have. They have computer rooms and everything. Instead of just building things you think we need, go look at other libraries.
Can Button Gwinnett put their honor roll in the newspaper please?
Beware of serious mistakes on your grocery bills. The computers do not have all the prices in them right. Nine out of 10 times at grocery stores, my tickets have a wrong amount on them.
When is President Obama going to have investigations about these fraudulent disability claims?
Jesus was born in a stable, and there are people who only love rich people, so I suppose they wouldn’t have loved Him. He says to love everyone — poor and rich.
My husband and I would like to thank Officer Britting for his assistance with our dog when it was bitten by a cottonmouth out by the transportation department pond. We really thank him for his assistance and direction. He’s our hero. Thank you, officer.
