Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

This is for the people who have cats here in Ellington Park. If you have a cat, keep it in your house and not all around other people’s houses and on top of their cars.

I see a restaurant in town with a sign that says “support world hunger.” Shouldn’t we be fighting world hunger?

My hat is off to Mr. Virgil Jones. This is a start to get past-due taxes collected. I have to pay my property taxes. Why do some people think that they are immune?

Please tell me why they’re going around stealing candidates’ signs. Let the people decide who they want to put in office. It’s not necessary to stoop down low and dirty. Just run a nice clean race, and please leave people’s signs alone.

Mr. Jimmy Darsey, there was only one councilman who voted against the raise, and that was Fifth District Councilman Shaw. Councilman Shaw did not go to St. Simons Island. Mr. Darsey, get yourself together. That was wrong what you said in the paper.

Let’s see — trips to China, raises for themselves, building stuff we don’t need, and how dare they use $20,000 for trips to china. You guys need to find out what China’s doing to America and stop supporting them. We’re losing jobs to China. We should vote you all out of office.
