Sound off for Sept. 25

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the  callers:

When you do a favor for someone one time, it does not give you the right to use them all your life. Think about that.

If a nurse is dedicated to go spend the entire day at the emergency room with one of her students, one of the other staff should have gone and picked her up. Something is rotten in Snelson-Golden Middle School’s front office.

Why would Hinesville charge a church for a permit for a yard sale, which they did. But yet Midway can have churches selling Boston butts and they didn’t have to have a permit, I don’t think.

I really enjoyed my weekend. I got to see the Georgia poodles choke in Athens, the hummingbirds lose to the Bears and the squirrels get swept by the Cardinals. To quote Jackie Gleason, “How sweet it is.” Oh yeah, how about them Cowboys?

If you go to a fast-food restaurant, make sure you check your cups that you drink out of and your food for creatures and critters or anything like that. A lot of times you might get them in there, so just make sure you check.

Think about doing this for charity. Get two black trash bags and mark one of them toys and mark one of them for back-to-school specials. Every time you go to the store, just put something in the bag. And when the time comes for back-to-school or Christmas, donate them to your favorite charity and you’ll be surprised how much that will build up in a year.

Don’t ever go to a hospital if you can help it. More people die of accidents in the hospital than die from breast cancer, AIDS or in car accidents. So get that life insurance if you’re going in, folks.

We the citizens are anxious to see if the mayor and council decline their raises since their employees haven’t had raises in two years.

The next time the city of Hinesville decides to have a car show in remembrance of 9/11, please post something. It was so ridiculous on Sunday when we couldn’t get out of the area where we live on Wallace Martin Road because they had the road blocked. And when someone called HPD, they did nothing. And if you’re going to have a car show, please don’t trash our area.
