The military has its own version of American Idol, Operation Rising Star and a member of the 3rd Infantry Division is competing in the semi finals to be crowned the winner.
Master Sgt. Kevin Crawford, who is currently deployed to Iraq, won the installation competition for Camp Victory, and is one of 12 who have made it to the semi finals round of Operation Rising Star.
Out of the 12, six will be selected to go to the final round and have a chance to win a prize of $2,000.
Crawford is the music minister at Live Oak Church of God. He sang in choirs in junior high, high school and college. His winning performance that got him into the semi finals was “We Must Praise” by J. Moss.
“I’m wired for it (singing),” said Crawford.
