Bill Dewey will play a Johnny Cash tribute concert  at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Emma Kelley Theater in Statesboro.
By age 3, Dewey had memorized some Cash numbers and worn out several play guitars pretending to be the legendary musician. By high school, Dewey was playing for audiences in his Midwestern hometown. After graduation, his band was booked nearly every weekend at clubs, fairs, private parties and parades throughout the region.
After moving to Nashville, Dewey met his musical icon and became friends with Cash and the family. He has used Cash's own guitars in performances and has performed Cash/Carter duets with Roseanne Cash.
Dewey's tribute performances have taken him across the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and many countries in Europe.
The concert is sponsored by Farmers & Merchants Bank. Tickets are $26 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the box office from 1-5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. For more information, call 912-212-2787.
