Revoltionary War encampment this weekend
Re-enactors fire a cannon as a demonstration at Fort Morris in east Liberty County.

Saturday, the state historic site has its annual “Come and Take It” Revolutionary War Encampment.

It is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and celebrates the colonists’ reply to a British demand that the fort be surrendered during the American Revolution. There will be a Sons of American Revolution wreath laying ceremony at 11 a.m. Other activities include a re-enactment of a battle, portrayals of colonial life and domestic skills, musket and cannon firings, soldier talks and colonial music by Jamie Keena.

The park is seven miles east of I-95 at Midway. Signs lead the way.
