Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not know if they  are true. We also do not know what motivated the callers:

I went to the city council meeting yesterday and was running a little late. By the time I got there it was over. I guess with the mayor in China they had a short agenda.

Thank you Lord that Obama won the race. We don’t need eight more years of Bush and that is what McCain would have been. I’m white and enjoy hearing Obama speak.

I think it is a good thing they are going to China so they can learn more about bringing industry to Liberty County. People shouldn’t be so niave about the China trip. We need to work together for the common cause of all citizens.

I think it’s a shame we have to go out of town to get a paper with picture of Obama when he wins the nomination. Y’all should be ashamed of yourself. That’s what’s wrong with Hinesville.

To the caller who thinks the national anthem needs to be changed: You’re right, it needed to be changed eight years ago.
