Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

The Big Three auto makers shouldn’t be able to claim Chapter 11 like the airlines. Why should a woman, who is supporting her kids with a small check, pay taxes to bail them out?

Please get out and vote. We don’t need Pelosi, Reid, Franklin and Dodd running our country. These four people care nothing about taxes and our people.

In the last year, the Democratic Congress has been trying to pass an $850 bill to fight world hunger. Look around you and see how many people are hungry in our own country.

They need to increase the ad valorem tax on these foreign made vehicles. That will encourage buying American.
