Bursitis bumps new sheriff from training

Liberty County Sheriff Polly Martin had to take medical leave from her Peace Officer Training Course when she was diagnosed with bursitis two weeks after classes began.
Martin, who was appointed to the position after the death of her husband, Sheriff Don Martin, in June, started training at a facility in Garden City on July 19 and said the injury occurred on the third day of class.
