Coastal Bank CEO on state chamber board

SAVANNAH - Tom Wiley, The Coastal Bank's president and CEO, has been named to the board of directors for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
"The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is a vital, proactive organization which represents businesses across the state," Wiley said. "I am proud to help represent coastal Georgia on this influential board."
A statewide organization, which represents a diverse membership of more than 3,300 businesses in the policy-making arenas of state government, the Georgia Chamber's mission is to keep the state "economically prosperous, educationally competitive and environmentally responsible."
Now in its 90th year, the state Chamber works to bring the grassroots issues of its members into the legislative process.
The 2008 board was recognized at an annual meeting in January in Atlanta.  
Wiley began his career with Citizens & Southern National Bank in 1975. He joined Bank Corporation of Georgia in 1982 and served as executive vice president and city president of Bank Corporation of Georgia's First South Bank subsidiary. In 1990, he was appointed president and chief executive officer of Bank Corporation of Georgia's Ameribank subsidiary in Savannah; he later joined Flag Financial Corp. in Atlanta.
Wiley is a past chairman and director of the Georgia Bankers Association and currently serves on the board of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Savannah Economic Development Authority. A graduate of Valdosta State University and the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University, he is a past chairman of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce.  He and his wife live in Savannah.
Locally owned by Coastal Bankshares, Inc., Coastal is headquartered on Johnson Square in Savannah, this community bank has been serving the greater Savannah area since 1954. It was originally organized in Hinesville and one of its five branches is still here.
