Residents of Long County and neighboring areas no longer have to fight traffic to get a good work out. A new fitness center recently opened in Ludowici.
Owner Clint Hendrix and his fiancé Mindy Keller opened the Long County Fitness Center on Thursday and according to the new owners, the facility has equipment and programs for people all ages.
“We offer programs for kids, adults, senior citizens and anyone who wants to get fit, stay fit or just get some exercise,” Hendrix said.
He and his fiancé said they opened the facility because they felt there was a need for one in the area.
“Being fit always was a big thing for both of us, and in the past we did a lot outside. But with all of the cold weather lately, we weren’t able to do as much,” Hendrix said. “For us to find somewhere to work out, we had to go somewhere. We figured if we were having this problem, others were too, and that was the big thing that helped us decide to open this center.”
The gym has commercial-grade exercise equipment such as a Body Master, Cybex, elliptical machines, treadmills, stair-climbers, free weights and resistance cables.
In addition, the fitness center will offer aerobics and Zumba classes in the future.
“We want to offer something for everyone. For the kids, we’ll make the exercise fun and have games, but we also want to be able to offer movement, motion and stretching for senior citizens who come in,” Keller said.
According to Hendrix, who is a certified personal trainer, people can join the center and come in any time. Clients also will be able to take advantage of individual help and specialized training from beginner to intense athletic levels.
The gym also has tanning beds, health drinks, supplements and energy products for sale.
The center is open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and a weekend schedule currently is in the works. Long County Fitness Center is behind Parker’s in Ludowici. Hendrix and Keller encourage prospective clients to call and ask about special discounts. There are several payment options. For more information, call 977-3724.
