Insurance agent on advisory panel

The Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioners office has selected Barry K. Downey, owner of Axiom Insurance Agency in Hinesville, as one of six persons to be a Regional Advisory Committee member for property and casualty insurance for 28 Southeastern counties in Georgia. Downey is the only agent selected from Liberty County by the commissioner’s office to hold this position.
Commissioner Ralph T. Hudgens made a personal commitment to the people of Georgia to bring a new era of transparency to the Department of Insurance.
He said he believes this goal only can be accomplished by having as many stakeholders as practical at the table when discussing issues.
As a first step toward achieving this goal, Hudgens created a number of regional and statewide advisory committees. Each committee member will contribute their expertise and insight and act as a conduit for communication between the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner and other leaders in their community.
