Bradwell Institute senior Alan Zhu was named the system STAR student of the year Thursday.

Zhu, who is going to Georgia Tech, named BI band director Aubrey Simmons as his STAR teacher.

Emma Beasley, the STAR student for Liberty County High School, chose LCHS band director David Sohayda as her STAR teacher.

Timothy Christensen was the STAR student for First Preparatory Christian Academy and chose his dad, his FPCA Bible teacher Lee Christensen, as his STAR teacher.

The STAR students and teachers were honored Thursday by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce at the Performing Arts Center.
