Georgia State University

ATLANTA - To be eligible for the Dean’s List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Georgia College and State University

MILLEDGEVILLE - Brianna Phillips, of Guyton, was named to the spring 2026 President’s List for the John H. Lounsbury College of Education at Georgia College & State University. To earn distinction on the President’s List, undergraduate students must earn a 4.0 semester GPA while completing at least 12 hours of coursework.

A number of local students participated in GCSU’s spring 2026 commencement ceremonies May 13-14.

Earning degrees were: Sydni Bacon of Midway, a master’s candidate Secondary Teacher Education major in the John H. Lounsbury College of Education Tehanya Peagler of Hinesville, a master’s candidate Nursing major in the College of Health Sciences

University of North Georgia

DAHLONEGA - For the spring 2026 semester, the University of North Georgia (UNG) awarded more than 1,700 degrees and certificates to graduates. Many of the graduates participated in the spring commencement ceremonies held May 12-15 at the Convocation Center at UNG’s Dahlonega Campus.

Shyanne Barnett of Midway graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts.

Tymeshia Gadson of Hinesville graduated with an Education Specialist in Performance-Based School/ District Leadership with Tier II Certification.

About 100 military awards and scholarships were presented to University of North Georgia cadets at the March Military Awards Ceremony and the Military Awards Review during Alumni Weekend in April.

Cadets were presented with awards and scholarships for academic achievement, potential for leadership, and high moral character.

Cadet Trezontae Britton from Midway received the Frankie Stringer Scholarship.

Western Carolina University

CULLOWHEE, NC - Micah Wells of Ludowici has been named to the Spring 2026 Chancellor’s List at Western Carolina University. To qualify for this honor, students must achieve a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Students named to the Chancellor’s list are also named to the Dean’s List.

Middle Tennessee State University

MURFREESBORO, TN - Middle Tennessee State University is congratulating 5,971 students who appear on the dean’s list for the Spring 2026 semester, including Nadia Jones of Ludowici.

To qualify for this distinction, an undergraduate student must maintain a current semester grade-point average of 3.5 or above and earn at least 12 semester hours.

Dalton State College

DALTON - Dalton State College expanded its annual Scholarship Day from one day to three this year due to growing philanthropic support and awarded $587,000 to nearly 300 students in April.

The Dalton State Foundation presented scholarships for the 20262027 academic year to students from two states, 31 Georgia counties and six foreign countries.

Mercoe Smith of Hinesville was awarded the Ron Arnold Memorial Scholarship in Communication.

Mercer University

MACON - Mercer University recently announced the President’s List and Dean’s List for the spring 2026 semester. Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous GPA standards specific to the college or school within the University.
