Weather

It’s gonna be hot, but it’s gonna be beautiful. The blue skies go on for miles and the sun sits high in the sky like a spotlight each day. It rises early and sets late throughout the warmer months providing more time for new experiences. Fair warning you may experience afternoon showers, so be sure to bring an umbrella too!

Activities

Our coastal county offers a wide range of experiences perfect for all interests. Ride a jet ski along intracoastal waterways! Book yours at captmacsjetski.com or by calling 912.492.2257. Delivery is included in your rental! If being on the water isn’t your thing, take a walk in a park or cast a line in one of our favorite spots. Outdoor activities are an essential part of what makes days in the sun so much fun.

Places to Visit

Browse the Hinesville Farmers Market and check out local goodies on Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. in Bradwell Park. You can view local art at the Hinesville Area Arts Council! Don’t leave downtown Hinesville without taking a picture at Liberty County’s only mural, located on the side of the gallery building. If coastal vibes are more your style, book a charter with Billigan Tours! The boat will take you to visit our barrier island, St. Catherines. Keep in mind that the island’s interior requires an invitation, but its shores are welcome to all visitors.

What to Eat and Drink

If you’re out on the coast it’s the perfect time to try seafood from the Sunbury Crab Company! Caught fresh each day, we can promise that you’ve never had anything like it. Along with the delicious entrees, there is a fully stocked bar. Order a drink of your choice and take in coastal views from your table.

What to Wear

It’s summer in the south, we do tend to go around in T-shirts and shorts because it can get warm, but we never forget a bathing suit for that very reason! Several of our local hotels have pools, as well as our recreation department! It’s also great to visit places like the Sunbury Boat Ramp and enjoy the breeze coming off the coast. Forget to pack the perfect outfit? Our local shops and boutiques have got you covered!

Keep Yourself Healthy

Get active and stay fit when visiting, so you can continue to come back and make memories for years to come. Go for a walk at Cay Creek Wetlands Interpretive Center and learn about the different ecosystems represented, or if history is your thing, we suggest bird watching at Fort Morris State Historic Site! Make sure that you take a bottle of water and some sunscreen with you. A hand fan is always a good idea too. Wondering where you can get a fan? Stop by and visit us at the historic Bacon Fraser House, and we’ll pack you a whole welcome bag of Liberty County goodies!
