Dryden donates computers to FPCA
Dryden donation

Dryden Enterprises & Dryden Properties recently donated 18 computers to local school, First Preparatory Christian Academy (FPCA). The donation will replace outdated technology for the teaching staff as they adjust to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

"We are so incredibly grateful for the generous donation from Claude Dryden and Dryden Enterprises and Dryden Properties. Their donation allowed us to update our technology at a most critical time and will allow us to continue to improve our virtual learning options for our families. In fact, this update will continue to serve our technology needs for years to come. On behalf of the FPCA family, thank you," stated Dr. Canup, interim head of school.

In response to COVID-19, FPCA modified in-person class structure to maintain social distancing as well as incorporated new virtual learning paths. For in-person learning, the school adjusted to have teachers transitioning classrooms rather than students. The virtual learning components involve teachers recording lessons and/or uploading assignments and documentation to Google Classroom. Both in-person instruction and virtual learning require a heavy reliance on technology. When Claude Dryden, owner of Dryden Enterprises and Dryden Properties learned that the school was looking to replace several outdated machines to properly equip its teachers, he felt it was his duty to give back.

“Many members of my family have attended FPCA in the past and our family is grateful for the experience, values and education these students have received. In the face of this pandemic, teachers, and schools in general, are faced with an extremely difficult task of completely reconfiguring their instruction. Donating new technology allows FPCA to continue to provide the experience families have come to expect, and my hope is that it alleviates any stress these teachers may be facing” stated Dryden.

Dryden had 7 children attend the school and 6 grandchildren are current students. The donation secures a new HP laptop computer for every teacher at FPCA, which currently teaches Kindergarten through 12th grade, with a variety of preschool classes also offered.
