AASU names new VP for advancement

Armstrong Atlantic State University has appointed J. Scott Joyner as vice president for advancement effective July 1.
As vice president for advancement, Joyner will work to generate and facilitate relationships that support Armstrong. His areas of responsibility will include the Office of Advancement, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Marketing and Communications. Joyner will work closely with the AASU Foundation Board of Trustees and with the AASU Alumni Association.
“Scott’s experience in university advancement and his accomplishments in fundraising will be an asset to Armstrong as he takes on a very important leadership position with the university,” said Ellen V. Whitford, AASU vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty.
Joyner comes to AASU after serving as associate vice president of university advancement and director of development at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. At Coastal, Joyner directed all university advancement activities, served on the Foundation Board’s Strategic Planning Committee on Financial Viability and Managed Growth and oversaw all fundraising for the university.
Joyner holds a master’s degree in athletic administration from Georgia Southern University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from North Carolina State University.
