The Savannah Area McDonald’s Operators’ Association has opened its scholarship program for applications, and is primed to award more than $50,000 towards higher education for the second year in a row.
The cooperative of local McDonald’s owner/operators is able to award individual scholarships of $1,200 that recipients can use toward tuition, room and board, books and more.
“We were thrilled to award 20 scholarships in 2010, the program’s inaugural year, and hope we can award all 48 available scholarships this year,” said Nina Gompels, with McDonald’s Owner/Operators Association.
Eligible applicants are McDonald’s employees and their dependants who are at least high school seniors planning to attend an accredited educational institution. McDonald’s restaurants in Bryan are among just a few of those participating in Georiga.
The scholarship requires that the employee work an average of 20-hours per week in their restaurant for at least three months. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to attend an accredited institution, among other criteria. The program is open for applications until March 31. For more information on the scholarship program or employment, please visit the local restaurant’s homepage through McGeorgia.com.
