ATLANTA — Rachel Trawick, who has ties to this area, recently received the Georgia State University Department of Respiratory Therapy Student Service Award.
The award is presented to a graduating student who, in the opinion of the faculty, exhibits a strong willingness to provide service to the department’s outreach efforts.

Valdosta dean’s list

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University recently included 13 area students on its spring 2016 dean’s list:

Allenhurst: Cianiya Bankhead.

Midway: Abigail Barron, Kristopher Duncan and Molly Zechman.

Hinesville: Austin Byers, Breanna Drummond, Jasmine Gilmore, Lynda Jimenez, Naomi McFadden Madison Preston and Jodi Thomas.

Ludowici: Hannah Golden

Glennville: Kenneth Murphy.

Students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional GPA of 3.00 or higher are recognized on the list.

Boston dean’s list

BOSTON — Emily D. Salcedo, a resident of Hinesville, was named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the spring 2016 semester.

Each school and college at the university has its own criterion for the list, but students generally must attain a 3.5 GPA or be in the top 30 percent of their class.

Niagara graduate

LEWISTON, N.Y. — Niagara University held its annual undergraduate commencement ceremonies May 16.
Anya Stefurk of Hinesville was among students who received bachelor’s degrees.
