Dean shared with the kids how Pete the Cat was inspired by his own cat named Pete and how he ultimatley realized his dream of becoming an artist through his illustrations of his cat. He then showed students how he draws Pete the Cat and other characters.

Dean read from his latest book, "Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes" and then had Pete the Cat come to act out Dean's first book "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes."

Students took photos with Pete the Cat and Dean, and gave Pete hugs and high-fives.
