Liberty Elementary School celebrated Constitution Day on Sept. 17 with history lessons, songs and a program by the Liberty County High School JROTC flag corps.
LES music teacher Lisa Johnson directed the program that focused on citizenship and freedom. Military veterans were recognized with a video presentation highlighting each branch of the service. Fallen heroes were honored when “Taps” was played. Students sang “The Citizen Song” and “Grand Old Flag.”
LES fifth-grader Jimmy Polk performed an a cappella version of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Students from various grade levels gave brief history lessons detailing important facts about the Constitution. Attendees were treated to a JROTC presentation under Lt. Col. Bill Sutton.
