In acknowledgement of September as National Literacy Month and the United Nations’ observance of International Literacy Day on Sept. 8, Gov. Nathan Deal has proclaimed Sept. 8 Literacy Action Day and Sept. 15-19 Literacy Action Week for Georgia. Literacy affects Georgia’s economic development and residents’ quality of life.
