TIFTON — Benjamin Varnum, an Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College student from Midway, recently participated in the Florida Legislative Leadership Day at the Capitol in Tallahassee, Fla., as a representative of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at ABAC.
The day included visits with Adam Putnam, Florida’s commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and state House of Representatives members Greg Steube and Brad Drake.
Varnum, a senior turfgrass and golf-course management major, participated in discussions on agricultural issues with staff members and representatives from the Farm Bureau, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and several other agencies.
He also had the opportunity to be recognized on the floor of the House and took part in a reception with the Florida Cattlemen and Florida Dairymen associations.
