The Liberty County School System was recently recognized as the 2015 winner of the “Georgia NFL Rise Up/Fuel Up Breakfast Contest,” sponsored by the Fuel Up to Play 60, the Atlanta Falcons and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association.

The system increased breakfast participation by 10 percent from October 2013 to October 2014. As a reward for being the first school in the county to start an expanded breakfast program and for promoting breakfast in schools, Waldo Pafford Elementary received a pep rally hosted by the Falcons and team mascot Freddie the Falcon on Monday morning.

Also, Waldo Pafford was selected to participate in the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Feed My School program.

The program focuses on the nutrition and quality of food in schools and the communication gaps from the farm to the cafeteria, in hopes of making Georgia children healthier.

The kickoff for “Feed My School” was also at Waldo Pafford on Monday. Activities included a flag presentation and performances by the Bradwell Institute Drumline, the Wildcat STEP and Dance Team, and WPE students.
