For the second time in recent history, Savannah Technical College earned national attention for its explosive enrollment growth, ranking 22nd nationally among fastest growing two-year colleges serving between 5,000-9,999 students, according to a report recently released by Community College Week magazine.
The report looked at full-time enrollment comparing data from Fall 2008 to Fall 2009. Savannah Tech showed a 20 percent increase during the period.
“Our enrollment growth has been steady and very strong for the past few years,” said college president Kathy S. Love. “Much of it has to do with current economic conditions, but I believe that people truly understand the tremendous value technical education offers. Especially in our community where I hear every day from students as well as from business and civic leaders how important Savannah Technical College is to life in Coastal Georgia.”
In December 2002, STC was ranked by Community College magazine as the third fastest-growing two-year college in the country serving between 2,500-4,999 students. In this year’s report, the Technical College System of Georgia had 14 colleges place among the nation’s fastest growing institutions of their size.
