Valdosta State University has selected two students from Liberty County for the VSU Ambassadors organization, a group that will assist the president with outreach activities, including graduation and alumni functions.
They are Brandi Foster and Brian Shanken who are among five students chosen for the honor.
Foster is a business management major with a 3.82 grade point average. Shanken is a physics major with a 3.1 gpa.
Members were chosen based on numerous factors, including enthusiasm for VSU, interest in and commitment to the organization, leadership qualities and communication skills.
The group  with a cumulative 3.5 GPA  is active within the university and greater Valdosta community; they are eager to promote VSU, as well as its interests and goals among future, current and past students and friends of the university.
Dean of Students Russ Mast said he hopes the diverse group will develop into stronger student leaders and advocates for VSU as they network with community leaders on behalf of the university.
The ambassadors will bring unity between the students and the VSU community, and a strong sense of school pride, Mast said.
“It will provide an opportunity for potential donors and friends of the university to see what type of high caliber student we have on our campus,” the dean said.
