Young Georgia Authors' Writing Competition Winners
Smiley Elementary School students, from left, Aja Lucena (kindergarten), Emily Golden (first grade) and Leah Serino (second grade), and backed by Principal Sandy Jones, have had work submitted to the Young Georgia Authors' Writing Competition. Not pictured is third grader Juan Maquez. Winning entries were chosen from each grade level to represent Long County in the state competition. Each student received a gift bag that included prizes, including a savings bond donated by The Heritage Bank. Students' entries were forwarded to Atlanta for the state level of competition.
