A fire late Thursday night has displaced a family of four in Long Country.

Ludowici/Long Country Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chief Chris Moss said the fire began shortly after 11 p.m. in the 100 block of Shayna Drive. He said when firefighters arrived the home was engulfed in flames that took roughly 30 minutes to bring it under control.

The fire displaced two adults and two children. The Red Cross has been summoned to assist the family.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen. Moss said about 20 firefighters fought the fire and mutual aid was provided by Walthourville, Hinesville and prisoners out of Glennville.
