Four people were injured in a head-on collision Friday night on Highway 196 in Long County.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Christopher Ashdown, a white Chevy Impala was traveling west bound on Highway 196 near Post Oak Road. A black Chevy Traverse was traveling east bound and attempted to pass another vehicle in the west bound travel lane when both vehicles collided head on. Ashdown said three unrestrained juveniles were sitting in the back of the Chevy Traverse. The juveniles and the female driver of the Chevy Traverse were taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville by Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevy Impala was flown from the scene to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah with what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“Please take the time to buckle your children,” Ashdown said. “Do not just assume they have put their seatbelts on themselves.”
