Andrea Valdez

GGS is The Georgia Gerontology Society is a statewide multidisciplinary professional network that educates, serves and advocates for older adults and their families.

GGS is happy to welcome Andrea Valdez as the new Executive Director in Training. She will work alongside Amanda James through May and will take over as the Executive Director on June 1st.

Andrea Valdez , a graduate of Howard University and the Medical College of VA with both degrees in Gerontology - has worked in the field of aging as a Gerontologist in both public and private sectors for 20 years. She is the current Director of Marketing for a Hospice Agency. She is the past Regional Administrator for a Senior Home Care Agency in Coastal Georgia. She previously worked in LTC settings in Marketing & Admissions positions in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and near Savannah, Georgia. Andrea has been passionate about working with older adults since childhood. She was inspired by her grandparents in both Tennessee and Virginia who tried to both quiet and spark her curiosity about the human aging process mentally, physically, and socially.

Andrea is also Reiki Master and volunteers at the local VA outpatient clinic for veterans through Reiki4Vets near Fort Stewart , GA. She has served as a Regional LTC Ombudsman in North Carolina. Her work across her career has involved coordinating and presenting trainings and community education workshops on aging related issues to include Dementia, Fall Prevention, Leadership in Long-Term Care, and Intimacy issues with Male Caregivers. Andrea Valdez is also an Adjunct Professor with 2 Universities teaching Health Care Administration, Legal Perspectives on Aging, and Gerontology Courses remotely. She is also a member of the Junior League of Savannah. Previous member of the Junior Leagues of Fayetteville, NC and Baton Rouge, LA and Greater Baton Rouge Women’s Council.
