A man who pled guilty to the death of a child was given his sentence earlier this week.

Brandon Robinson, who pled guilty to several charges relating to the 2023 death of Aniyah Perry, was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison and 20 years of probation by Judge Jay Stewart.

Robinson’s girlfriend Shelly Perry pled guilty to murder in the case earlier this year and was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.

Robinson pled guilty to nine charges and the first count of malice murder was reduced to murder in the second degree in his plea deal. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years of probation. He also was sentenced to 20 years of probation for cruelty to children in the first degree, to run concurrently with the murder in the second degree sentence.

Ten years of probation for cruelty to children in the second degree also was merged with the first count, and Robinson was sentenced to five years’ probation for making false statements, with that sentence to run concurrently to the first count. A guilty plea for tampering with evidence led to a sentence of three years’ probation to run concurrently with the sentence in the top count, and his plea in concealing the death of another led to probation of 10 years to run consecutively to the first charge.

Robinson was indicted for not providing sustenance and proper medical care to the child, who was 6 years old at the time of her death.

Perry called authorities on May 1, 2023, to report her daughter was in her bed and unresponsive. She told officers responding to her Saunders Avenue home that she had put the child to sleep that afternoon but when she went to wake her daughter about four hours later, the child was unresponsive.

Detectives later testified that Perry told them the girl died in another state, and the couple brought Aniyah back to Hinesville. Security camera footage showed Perry and her boyfriend, Robinson, bringing the already deceased child, wrapped in a blanket, into their apartment.
