Heat advisory issued for our area

The National Weather Service Office in Charleston has issued a heat advisory for our area. According to the advisory high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s combined with moderate levels of humidity will produce dangerous levels of heat this afternoon.

The heat indices will be from 108 to 113 from 2 until 7 p.m. The Highest heat indices will occur roughly along the US 17 corridor in Southeast South Carolina and along and just east of I-95 in Southeast Georgia. This includes both the Charleston and Savannah Metro areas.  The advisory covers Berkeley, Charleston, Coastal Colleton, Beaufort, Jasper, Chatham,Liberty,Bryan and McIntosh Counties.

Those exposed to the intense heat have an increased risk for heat exhaustion and possible heat stroke.
