Local community workers were on hand for a “Prevent Teen Pregnancy Month” proclamation signing on Thursday.
With Georgia currently having the 10th highest birth rate in the country and over 16,000 teens giving birth every year, the proclamation calls for more focus on family discussion and education to help prevent teen pregnancy.
Among those present for the proclamation signing were David Floyd, director of Liberty County Family Connection; Libby Hodge, secretary for Bethesda Church; Lisa Syas, community resource specialist with the Department of Family and Children Services; Linda Fagan of the Liberty County Health Department and Clarenda Stanley, director of Cider House.
Also attending were Deidre Michelson, administrator for the Liberty County Health Department, and Dr. Seth Borquaye, Comprehensive OB/GYN.
